In October 2020 we in Glerárskóli (Iceland) dedicated two days to equality. All students worked on different kind of assignments all related to the subject. The younger students played games, watched videos, discussed the difference between a man and a woman‘s job (if there is any?) among many other fun activities. 5.-7.th grade made cards and posters and had a fun equality parade around the town. The older students drew an equality themed topic and all made great projects about the project they drew which they then introduced to their fellow students. Everyone had a blast while learning new things!
Here you can see a video made by two 9th grader featuring pictures from these equality days.

KASIM SACIDE ENER SECONDARY SCHOOL GUIDANCE SERVICE CLASS GUIDANCE WORKSHOPS
TRAININGS ON GENDER EDUCATION AND GENDER ROLES
Our students, who are studying at our school, are in the adolescence process due to their age periods. Adolescence is defined as a long transition period from childhood to adulthood, in which marked with stress and confusion moreover rapid physiological, psychological and social developments are observed.
In this process, adolescents experience physical changes, difficulties in relationships with family and peers, and difficulties in relationships with the opposite sex. In addition, adolescents have to make choices about education, school and career during this period. For this reason, adolescents have to cope with more problems than in many other periods of life.
At the same time, the puberty period is very important for the sexual development of the adolescent. Developmental changes in the sexual sphere during adolescence are closely related to reaching physical maturity in adolescence. These changes that occur during adolescence are accompanied by an increase in sexual desire, intimacy with the opposite sex and other sexual activities. Adapting to her/his changing body and the functions of her sexually maturing body, clarification of sexual attitudes and values, engaging in sexual behaviors, and ensuring the integration of feelings, attitudes and experiences related to sexuality can be counted among these duties.
Due to these factors mentioned above, our students were primarily given training on Gender education, Sexual development process, social and emotional changes experienced during adolescence...etc. The second part of our work covers the issues of gender roles and gender equality. These educational studies were given to all student groups together in the form of classroom guidance studies, or they were be carried out in the form of individual psychological counseling studies.
